Annotation: The subject deals with practical methods of astronomical observations of selected objects. It includes also short-term stays at cooperating observatories.

Course review:
(Selected topics from the following according to the current conditions) - Basic orientation on the sky. Most important stars and constellations, annual cycle. Positions and movements of the Solar system bodies. Ecliptic, meridian, pole, zenith, nadir, galactic equator. Azimuthal and equatorial coordinates. - Operation of azimuthal and equatorial mounts. Methods of telescope mount set-up. Mount errors. Measurement of the periodic error of a German equatorial mount. Mount drive, pointing - practical performance. Viewing field and magnification of a telescope and their use. The influence of the atmosphere. Seeing. Sky quality. Measurement of the level of light pollution. - Observation of the Sun. Projection, filters. Observation of the Sun in H-alpha line. - Observation and photography of the Moon. - Observation of the planets. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. The use of a lucky-imaging method for planet photographing. - Observation of open and globular clusters, star formations. - Observation of planetary, emission and reflective nebulas. The importance of filters. - Observation of galaxies. - Observation of comets. - Observation of meteors.
