Course: Pulse Laser Systems
Department/Abbreviation: SLO/PLS
Year: 2021
Guarantee: 'prof. RNDr. Ondřej Haderka, Ph.D.'
Annotation: The lecture aims to understand properties, ways of generation, and amplification of optical pulses in the range from milisecond to femtosecond pulses.
Course review:
1) Generation of milisecond laser pulses - free running regime
2) Generatin of nanosecond pulses - Q-switching, gain switching, cavity dumping; rate equations
3) Generation of picosecond and femtosecond pulses - mode-locking technique (active, passive, Kerr-lens mode-locking)
4) Properties of femtosecond laser pulses, dispersion, pulses shaping, pulse stretching and compression
5) Ultrashort laser pulse diagnostics (autocorrelation, FROG, SPIDER etc.)
6) Laser pulse amplification - regenerative and multipass amplifiers, gain saturation
7) CPA technique (chirped pulse amplification); high power laser systems; optical isolators and spatial filters, XPW
8) Tunable lasers. Nonlinear light scattering - Raman lasers
9) Nonlinerar phenomena of second and third order - optical parametrical generation and amplifiacation (OPG, OPA)
10) Self-focussing, self-phase modulation, supercontinuum generation. OPCPA technique, periodically-polled crystals
