Annotation: The final exam shall verify knowledge and understanding of electricity and magnetism and optics, that the students gained during their whole study.
Course review:
-Electromagnetic theory of light, phase velocity, refractive index of optical media, dispersion, Huygens principle, law of refraction and refraction, reflectance, transmission and absorption of dielectrics, Fresnel equations, anisotropic medium
-Geometrical optics, propagation of optical beam through a prism, wedge block, plan- parallel platelet, totally reflecting prisms and through optical fibres, geometrical imaging by mirrors and lenses, basic optical instruments (magnifying glass, microscope, binoculars and refractometer)
-Coherence and interference of light, conditions for coherence of light, double-beam and multi-beam interference of light and their usage, principle of optical holography
-Diffraction of light, classification of diffraction phenomena, Fraunhofer diffraction of light at a slit, circular slot and at an optical grating, resolution limit of optical instruments, basics of Fourier optics
-Polarization of light, characteristics of polarization states of light, Jones vector, polarization by scattering, reflection, refraction, birefringence and by selective absorption, Polarizers and analyzers of light, optical activity of a matter
-Radiometry and photometry, basic radiometric and photometric quantities and their relations, units of radiometric and photometric quantities, basics of detection and dosimetry of ionization radiation
