Annotation: Simulation of basic phenomena of ray, wave and imaging optics.

Course review:
1. Principles of ray optics, simulation of lens imaging, ray tracing algorithms, ray trajectory in inhomogeneous media. 2. Interference of coherent light waves, simulation of two-beam interferometers. 3. Simulation of effects on boundaries of dielectrics, amplitude and phase of reflected light. 4. Description of light propagation in free-space, algorithm for convolution approach, applicability of the algorithm. 5. Description of light propagation in free-space, algorithm for impulse approach, applicability of the algorithm. 6. Diffraction of light in Fresnel and Fraunhofer appoximation, diffraction on basic types of apertures, comparison of analytical and numerical results, influence of signal sampling. 7. Multiple-beam interference, reflection and antireflection coatings, light diffraction on amplitude grating. 8. Point spread function for an ideal imaging system and system with aberrations. 9. Principle of optical holography, simulation of hologram recording and reconstruction. 10. Light beams, propagation and transformation of gaussian beams and nonstandard laser beams (nondiffracting and vortex beams). 11. Simulation of phase imaging by spiral and Zernicke phase contrast.
