Annotation: The goal of the subject is to familiarize the student with the area of the wave optics.

Course review:
1. Physical specification of the geometrical, wave, electromagnetic and quantum optics; dualism of light. 2. Optical medium, description and properties. 3. Coherence of light, classical and quantum approach. 4. The Helmholtz equation in the form of plane waves, harmonic analysis. 5. Diffraction of light, the Kirchhoff solution of the wave equation, the Fraunhoffer and Fresnel approaches, examples of solution of diffraction, diffraction gratings, resolving power of optical devices. 6. Interference of light, optical interferometers, white-light interferometry, applications. 7. Polarization of light, description, classification, applications. 8. Light scattering. 9. Beam optics, description and physical properties, transformation and conversion of optical beams; nondiffracting and vortex beams.
