Annotation: Students are assumed to master the topics described in the content of the subject.

Course review:
Lasers and laser diodes, principle and regimes of operation, Laser resonators. Cw lasers. Q-switching. Modes synchronization. Ultrashort pulses. Measurement of power and energy. Diagnostics of ultrashort pulses (autocorrelation, FROG, SPIDER). Electro- and acusto-optical effects. Amplitude and phase modulation of light, Spatial modulation. Diagnostics and shaping of ultrashort optical pulses. Amplification of laser pulses, types of amplifiers (regenerative, repetitive), gain saturation. CPA technique (chirped pulse amplification), high-power laser systems, optical isolators, spatial filters. Nonlinear optical generators and amplifiers of light - nonlinear effecst of second and thord order, optical parametric generator and amplifier. Application of ultrashort optical pulses in spectrsocopy. Application of paser pulses with high energy and peak power (material separation, welding, surface modifications).
