Course: Optics

Department/Abbreviation: OPT/OPTU

Year: 2018

Guarantee: 'Mgr. Jan Říha, Ph.D.', 'RNDr. Ivo Vyšín, CSc.'

Annotation: The subject entitled Optics consists of lectures, numerical exercises, and solutions of practical exercises in laboratory. The attention will be paid to two of the basic branches of optics, which involves usage of the investigation methods - the geometrical optics and the wave optics. The basic parts of these branches, concerning the theory of optics, optical instruments, and the most important optical effects, will be studied. The context of the mentioned branches and the unity between the wave optics and the electromagnetic field theory will be emphasized. Furthermore, possible applications of optics in other scientific branches, such as the astronomy, biology, chemistry or medicine, will be presented.
