Annotation: The course focuses on the experimental validation and demonstration of basic physical principles of optics. The aim of the course is to acquire basic experimental skills, learn how to use basic optical instruments and understand the methods used for the measurement of optical devices or to test the basic physical principles.

Course review:
1. Principles of laboratory work, work place safety, laboratory equipment, measurement and principles of the fundamental optical devices (collimator, measuring telescope, measuring microscope) 2. Measuring the focal length by a Porre's and Bessel's method 3. Measurement of the telescope parameters 4. Measurement of the microscope parameters 5. Measurement of refractive index of glass by Fraunhofer's method 6. Measuring the resolution limits of the photographic lens 7. Measurement of the emission spectra of sources and the absorption spectra of optical filters, characterization and color measurement, color mixing 8. Interference of light. Verification of Young's experiment, evatualing of the slits distance by measurement of the interferogram 9. Diffraction of light. Measurement barrier parameters from the diffraction pattern, the measurement of the difraction grid period. 10. Polarization of light. Methods for obtaining linearly polarized light, transformation of the polarization states, measuring the polarization state. 11. Measurements of the optical fibers.
