Course: Plant Stresses

Department/Abbreviation: KBF/PGSSR

Year: 2020

Guarantee: 'RNDr. Martina Špundová, Ph.D.'

Annotation: To deepen knowledge in the field of plant stress.

Course review:
Definition of stress - conception of stress, stress factors, stress reaction, acclimation and adaptation. Common mechanisms of stress reactions of plants - creation of stress proteins, creation and removal of active forms of oxygen, creation of stress phytohormones, creation of osmo-regulating compounds. Oxidative stress. Photoinhibition. Stress induced by UV radiation. High-temperature and low-temperature stress. Senescence and programmed cell death. Water deficit, osmotic stress, salinization of soils. Herbicides. Increased concentration of CO2. Stress induced by toxic substances in air (ozone) and in soil (heavy metals). Stress induced by a lack of nutrients. Biotic stress, phytopathogenic organisms.
